Welcome to Bacclor.com!
Hey there. Let's see... things about me... I am a Computer Science student, so I like a lot of computer and problem-solving sorts of things. I have worked as a software developer before, though I am currently a full-time student. I'm also an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, literary fiction, etc. I'm a bit of a hobbyist writer, writing all sorts of things from news articles to political commentaries to short stories to poetry to tech how-tos and reviews. Politics is highly important to me, something I feel like everyone should care about and understand, so I watch a lot of news, especially now, during election season (I am talking about American politics, by the way).
What this site is is my testing bed for new applications I want to develop for my own benefit as well as for the benefit of others if they wish to come to my website and use it, and it's also a place for me to centralize my activities on the Internet. Eventually I would like to build enough applications on this site to put me entirely in control of my own online footprint, without having to rely on services like Facebook or Google. It won't get to be that powerful for a good while, but it gives me a good, challenging project to work on.
This site has gone through many, many iterations. It began on Google's Blogger service, a blog talking about leveling in World of Warcraft, and eventually moved to Wordpress and became about World of Warcraft in general. Then it became a blog just about whatever I felt like talking about. About 4 years ago, I moved from free blog-hosting services to a rented web server, the same one I have today: that allowed me a lot more flexibility with what I actually did with the site, and I've learned a lot about web administration since then. Then the blog shifted into a strictly technology-news blog. For a while, I talked about the 2008 election. Then I moved into technology-related how-tos. Now the site's finally expanding into a bit more than just a blog: I do plan on still having a blog, but I've had a lot of really great ideas about what I want to do with the site. I'm going to keep the site pretty simple to start off with, with the intention to add new features as I get them functional. And I plan to pretty it up a bit as well; don't worry.
